This policy covers Iponance on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and Iponance on Android.
In short #
Iponance keeps your money records private. There is no Iponance account to sign up for, no ads, and nothing that tracks you. The developer does not collect your information and cannot see anything you enter in the app.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac #
Where your information is kept #
Everything you enter stays on your device. That includes your accounts, spending, budgets, goals, bills, receipt photos and family members.
Your conversations with the assistant are also kept on your device, and only for 30 days. After that they are deleted automatically.
Receipt photos stay on your device and, if Sync is on, in your own hidden, locked sync copy. If you turn on Settings › Sync › Keep Receipt Photos in Sync Only, older receipt photos may be kept only in that sync copy (your device keeps a small preview) and are downloaded when you open them. If you say a purchase has a warranty, its receipt photo is deleted automatically 30 days after the warranty ends, unless you choose Keep It; the purchase itself stays. Save to Photos copies a receipt to your device's photo library only when you tap it. When the assistant shows you a receipt, the chat keeps only a link to the purchase, never a copy of the photo.
The assistant also remembers what you teach it, on your device: when you correct a category, an account or a wording, that correction is used next time. You can see and delete these learned facts in Settings › Assistant › What Ipo Has Learned, or turn the learning off there. They are included in your own backups and in Sync, locked like everything else, and are never shared with anyone or exported in plain text.
When information leaves your device #
Only when you choose one of these, apart from the update check at the end:
Syncing with iCloud #
- If you turn on Sync through iCloud, your information is kept in your own private iCloud so your iPhone, iPad and Mac stay up to date.
- It is locked with a sync password that only you know. Apple, the developer and anyone else who signs in to your Apple Account can't read it.
- If you forget the sync password and lose all your devices, the synced copy can't be recovered by anyone, including the developer.
- If you used an earlier version of Iponance, its older iCloud copy, which wasn't locked with a sync password, is removed once your information is safely saved the new way.
Syncing with Google Drive #
- If you choose Google Drive in Settings › Sync (for example when your iCloud storage is full), or turn on Settings › Sync › Sync with Android, you sign in with Google and your locked copy is kept in a hidden space in your own Google Drive, so your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android phones stay up to date.
- With Google Drive chosen, nothing new goes to iCloud.
- Iponance asks Google only for that hidden space and can never see your other Drive files.
- The copy is locked with the same sync password, so Google, the developer and anyone else who signs in to your Google account can't read it.
- To remove it, disconnect Google Drive in Settings › Sync, or open Google Drive › Settings › Manage apps › Iponance › Delete hidden app data.
Your device's own iCloud Backup #
- Like most apps, Iponance's information can be included in your device's iCloud Backup, which Apple protects with your Apple Account.
- Your chat history is left out.
Backups and exports #
- You can save a backup file, or export a spreadsheet or PDF, to a place you choose.
- Backups can have a password. Once a file leaves the app, keep it somewhere safe.
Exchange rates #
- If you have accounts in other currencies and choose to update rates online, the app asks free public rate services for today's rates.
- Only the currency names, such as PHP or USD, are sent. Never your amounts or other information.
Optional language model #
- On devices without Apple Intelligence, you can choose to download a small language model so the assistant understands looser wording.
- The download comes from a model-hosting website, which, like any website, sees your internet address.
- Nothing you entered is sent.
Update checks #
- Once a day the app checks the App Store for a newer version. Only the app's ID is sent.
Purchases #
Purchases are made through the App Store; Iponance never sees your payment details. If you use Sync with an Android phone, a proof of your purchase is kept in your locked synced copy so the Android app can unlock too. To count the free trial, the App Store keeps the date you got the free trial item, and the app keeps that date on your device. Nothing about your purchase or trial is sent to the developer.
Apple features Iponance uses #
- Reading receipts: receipt photos and bank statements are read on your device. Iponance does not upload them.
- Reading screenshots: screenshots of your bank, card or e-wallet transactions are read on your device. Iponance does not keep or upload them, and card numbers and names on them are not saved; only the transactions you choose are logged.
- Apple Intelligence (optional, supported devices only): if you choose it, Apple's on-device AI helps read receipts and understand your messages. It works on your device, and nothing you enter in Iponance is sent to Apple.
- Voice input and Siri: when you use the microphone or Siri, Apple turns your speech into text. Depending on your device and language, Apple may handle the audio under Apple's privacy policy. Iponance never records or keeps your voice.
- Widgets and Apple Watch:
- Widgets and the Iponance watch app show a short summary from your iPhone, such as what's safe to spend and your net savings.
- They hide amounts when the app lock is on, unless you choose otherwise.
Permissions #
- Camera and photos: only when you scan or choose a receipt, or choose screenshots to import. Adding to your photo library: only when you save a payment reminder card or tap Save to Photos on a receipt; Iponance can't see your library.
- Microphone and speech recognition: only while you speak to the assistant.
- Notifications: for the reminders you turn on, such as bills and due dates.
- Face ID or Touch ID: to open the app, and to confirm it's you before a device is added to or removed from Sync.
Iponance never asks for your location or your contacts.
Deleting your information #
- Settings › Erase All Data deletes everything from your device (including what the assistant learned) and, if Sync is on, from your iCloud sync too, so it disappears from your other devices.
- Settings › Assistant › What Ipo Has Learned › Forget Everything deletes only the learned facts.
- Deleting the app also deletes the information on that device.
On Android #
Where your information is kept #
Everything you enter stays on your phone, protected so that other apps can't read it. That includes your accounts, spending, budgets, goals, bills, receipt photos and family members.
Your conversations with the assistant are also kept on your phone, and only for 30 days. After that they are deleted automatically.
Receipt photos stay on your phone and, if Sync is on, in your own hidden, locked sync copy. If you turn on Settings › Sync › Keep Receipt Photos in Sync Only, older receipt photos may be kept only in that sync copy (your phone keeps a small preview) and are downloaded when you open them. If you say a purchase has a warranty, its receipt photo is deleted automatically 30 days after the warranty ends, unless you choose Keep It; the purchase itself stays. Save to Photos copies a receipt to your phone's gallery (Pictures/Iponance) only when you tap it. When the assistant shows you a receipt, the chat keeps only a link to the purchase, never a copy of the photo.
The assistant also remembers what you teach it, on your phone: when you correct a category, an account or a wording, that correction is used next time. You can see and delete these learned facts in Settings › Assistant › What Ipo Has Learned, or turn the learning off there. They are included in your own backups and in Sync, locked like everything else, and are never shared with anyone or exported in plain text.
When information leaves your phone #
Only when you choose one of these:
Syncing your phones #
- If you turn on Sync, your information is copied to a hidden space in your own Google Drive so your other phones can stay up to date.
- It is locked with a sync password that only you know. Google, the developer and anyone else who signs in to your Google account can't read it.
- Iponance can only see its own hidden space in your Drive, never your other files.
- If you forget the sync password and lose all your phones, the synced copy can't be recovered by anyone, including the developer.
- On phones without Google's on-device AI, or with it turned off, you can choose to download a small language model so the assistant understands looser wording.
- The download comes from a model-hosting website, which, like any website, sees your internet address.
- Nothing you entered is sent.
Features that use Google's services on your phone #
- Reading receipts: receipt photos and bank statements are read on your phone using Google Play services. Iponance does not upload them. Google Play services may share basic performance information with Google, but not your photos or what's in them.
- Reading screenshots: screenshots of your bank, card or e-wallet transactions are read on your phone. Iponance does not keep or upload them, and card numbers and names on them are not saved; only the transactions you choose are logged.
- On-device AI (optional, supported phones only): if you choose it, Google's on-device AI helps read receipts and understand your messages. It works on your phone, and nothing you enter in Iponance is sent to Google. The first time, your phone may download it from Google.
- Voice input: when you tap the microphone, your phone turns your speech into text, on the phone when possible. If your phone can't do this on its own, its speech service (often Google) may handle the audio under its own privacy policy. Iponance never records or keeps your voice.
- Update checks: once a day the app checks Google Play for a newer version. Only the app's ID is sent.
Purchases #
Purchases are made through Google Play; Iponance never sees your payment details. If you use Sync with an iPhone, a proof of your purchase is kept in your locked synced copy so the iPhone app can unlock too. To count the free trial, the app keeps the day it started on your phone. Nothing about your purchase or trial is sent to the developer.
Detecting payments (optional) #
This is off unless you turn it on.
- If you turn on Settings › Detect Payments and allow notification access, Iponance reads the notifications from the bank and e-wallet apps you pick, such as GCash or your bank.
- This happens on your phone. Nothing is sent anywhere, including to the developer.
- It looks for payments: the amount, who was paid or who sent it, and when. Each one is offered to you, and nothing is saved until you say yes.
- Notifications from other apps are not read.
- Payments you haven't answered are deleted after 14 days.
- You can turn this off any time, in the app or in your phone's settings.
Permissions #
- Camera and photos: only when you scan or choose a receipt, or choose screenshots to import. Adding to your gallery: only when you tap Save to Photos on a receipt (on Android 9 this asks for storage permission; later versions need none).
- Microphone: only while you speak to the assistant.
- Notifications: for the reminders you turn on, such as bills and due dates.
- Notification access: only if you turn on Detect Payments, to read the notifications from the apps you pick.
- Fingerprint or face unlock: to open the app, and to confirm it's you before a phone is added to or removed from Sync.
- Internet: only for Sync, exchange rates, update checks, purchases, the optional language model, and the Google features above.
Iponance never asks for your location or your contacts.
Moving to a new phone #
Android's own backup doesn't include Iponance, because your information is locked to your phone. To move to a new phone, use Backup & Restore or Sync.
Deleting your information #
- Settings › Erase All Data deletes everything from your phone, including what the assistant learned.
- Settings › Assistant › What Ipo Has Learned › Forget Everything deletes only the learned facts.
- Uninstalling the app also deletes it from your phone.
- To delete a synced copy, open Google Drive › Settings › Manage apps › Iponance › Delete hidden app data.
Children #
Iponance is meant for adults managing their own money. Parents can keep track of savings for their child in their own app. The child doesn't use the app, and nothing is collected about them.
Changes #
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will show it to you again.
